Coin Door

An authentic coin door really sells your cabinet. Without
it, it's just not an arcade machine. I picked up a genuine
4-Player Coin door from HappControls loaded with Quarter Coin
Mechs. The Coin Mechs are modular and can be removed.
You can replace them with different models that accept different
types of currency. I believe they sell some that accept
tokens along with quarters. Coin Mechs
use gravity, magnets, and a bunch of other tools to tell if an
inserted coin is acceptable or not. They don't like being
angled (1 or 2 degrees in one direction is acceptable, but too
much of an angle and they won't work), and they don't need any
power (with the exception of the switch and light). The
switch that is triggered by a falling quarter (resulting in one
credit) is a larger version of the cherry micro-switches seen on
all of the joysticks and buttons (it interfaces the same way as
all of the buttons and joysticks with the I-Pac 4). Easy to
wire. Sometimes the Coin Mechs are sold
separately from the Coin Door/Safe. Mine came as one
assembly. I had to buy the coin bucket and coin bucket
holder separately. Closed and Locked Coin Door/Safe:

Light Bulbs:

It actually came with four light bulbs, but they supported
something like 3.3V (probably DC current). I replaced them
with four white 12V multi-LED bulbs (powered by my PC's power
supply). I can't remember which size bulbs I used, but they
were designed for an automobile. They fit right into the
bulb assembly the old bulbs sat in (the old bulbs had the size
number written on them).
